Pros news

Happy New Year to all of you. I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year's break catching up with family and friends.

Unfortunately we did not get as much golf as we would have liked but that did not deter you getting down to the club in large numbers on the days we were open. In particular last Sunday where not only did we have two busy timesheets on both 9s but our first venture at Tapas and Jazz prooved a huge success with over 90 of you tucking in and having fun to sign off the festive period! Well done to Paddy Kavanagh and Joe McWilliams who put it all together and to our "celebrity" chef Phelim and his staff who put on an amazing spread of food that appealled to every palate.

2015 was a great year for Naas GC and I am really looking forward to helping to build on the successes that have come to the club over the past few years. Last year we had some very special individual achievments on the course but our teams showed a steeley competitivness, in all competitions we held our own, even those where we may have bowed out early, we were competitive and other clubs know now that when they face Naas.... they are in for a battle! As the season draws closer I look forward to helping you prepare what I hope will be your best season so far, no reason why not!

Course news

Our course improvments are slightly ahead of time, and I know that there will be continued communications to the membership as to the progress being made. I have been out a few times to take a look and I have to say I am really impressed with the style and look of the new 3rd green and the addition of a fairway bunker on the 5th.

The new shaping and creation of natural run offs looks fantastic and from the tee will look like apple tart and cream on the eye. I am a great believer that when you stand on a tee box it should demand that you stop for a second to fully take in what is in front of you, making you pause just for a brief second to ask yourself a question or simply admire what nature and man together can build.

I really feel that this has been and will be a feature of our course improvments and I look forward to watching things progress. I have to say well done to David and his staff over the past few months what with all the wet weather we have had it is remarkable how often we have managed to stay open and the drainage work it must be said has paid off and was money well spent.

Shop news

As you know, we have been taking the off-season to refurbish the shop and the new layout is now complete. We are still tidying up and restocking and will continue to do so over the next while. I would really appreciate any feedback you can give me on the new layout, I am very happy with the response so far but the shop is there to serve the members and any feedback is helpful so feel free to click here or stop by and have a chat if you have any thoughts that will help add to our services this year.

As part of the new program for the club, there is the provision of office space and a new indoor coaching and fitting studio. Work has already begun and as someone who might struggle to put in a light bulb it has been a brief but interesting education in engineering. I have included some photos and will do so each week as things progress.

I am really looking forward to this addition to our already fantatstic coaching facilities and services and I will fill you in with more information as we get closer to completion. In the mean time if you have any questions please click here or again, feel free to stop by for a chat. I am sure your email inboxes are getting jammed with January sales and special offers so I will keep this brief but let you know that we are continuing our half price sale and also we have some items at cost price clearance so if you do have something in mind please let me know or stop by.

Although it has been wet dont neglect your own game. Try to keep up your visits to the range, 9 holes on the weekend or book a lesson and get a focus to your practise over the next few weeks. The evenings are getting brighter!!

I hope you enjoyed the reading the articles, and that you have a great weekend.
