Naas Golf Club PGA Golf Professional
Congratulations to Patricia Cronin who won last weekends Lady Captain's Prize! Patricia has put in a lot of time in to her game and I am delighted to see that her perseverance and patience paid off so soon.
It's not easy to hold your nerve over two separate weekends and well done to all the ladies who competed and played and supported our Lady Captain Yvonne, who put on a great show and everyone enjoyed the weather and the fun.
This week we had the annual Kildare Boys sponsored by the O'Connor family. Naas GC had a good showing with Eoin Freeman playing off 15 handicap winning the nett prize, Jamie Butler off 11, the second nett overall and Dylan Burke 5 handicap won the best gross on the first 18.
Well done to the winner Aaron Bagnall 2 handicap, who won this competition last year and fully deserves his win with a very good two round total of 147.
Open week as we know is just around the corner and the time sheets are filling up very quickly! Hopefully the weather will continue to help our preparations and I know David and his team are working very hard to get things right for what will be the busiest week of the year.
The Pro Shop will have lots of deals and offers available and as always you will have a chance to get even more discount in our 14th hole competition. So if you are interested in something new to put in your bag or to avail of one of our coaching packages or maybe you would like a new pair of golf shoes, take advantage of our competition and really "beat the pro" this open week.
Short Game Master Class- Saturday, 20 August!
On Saturday, 20 August myself and my assistant Brian Sweeney will host a short game masterclass open to all golfers.
The purpose of the class is to coach you in the areas of chipping, pitching, bunker play and putting.
Many golfers lose a huge amount of shots around the greens. Practice is not enough, knowing WHAT to practice is part of being successful but more important is knowing HOW to practice and that is the real key to having a consistent and REWARDING short game.
As you may be aware Brian is now only one of small group of coaches in Ireland licensed to coach the AimPoint system and he will take you through how to correctly read greens in addition to showing you more effective ways to practice your putting.
This is the first half day coaching session we will be conducting together and it promises to be an exciting and productive day with guaranteed results!

Here’s your last chance to discover the many benefits of using an electric trolley over carrying and/or using a push model - just sign up in store, it’s that simple.
The 145th Open Championship saw Callaway’s Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson go head-to-head in a Sunday showdown that will go down as one of the greatest ever – it really was some display of ball striking. We’re used to seeing the Swede use that much-loved 3-wood of his, but we also saw him use his XR driver to devastating effect at Royal Troon.
