Last week was an exciting week again for Naas GC as Conor O'Rourke played a major role in helping Ireland to win the home internationals for the third straight year. An incredible feat!
Last year it was another Naas member, Jack Hume who was on the winning side and this year missed the event to play in the US Amateur in Oakland Hills Detroit so we wish him well, he has made the cut yesterday and is now through to the matchplay stages.
Meanwhile, down in the Kingdom James Lawlor was busy winning the Kerry Boys Plate and having worked with James recently I know he was determined to play well and achieve some success this summer....hard work and a clear plan paid off!
How many times have you gone to the range on a Wednesday evening and hit it great, only to turn up on Saturday or Sunday morning and play so bad you want to give it up. Alternatively, have you done the opposite and hit it terrible all week only to turn up and perform when it counts.
Well, both performances are very easily explained when you factor in the power of expectation! A good week at the range fills you full of expectation and hope, you may even be writing the winners speech on Friday night, whereas a bad week makes you feel like you have nothing to loose.
So how we practice and what we allow to influence our thinking is really important to consistent performances.
Change how you practice and you will change how you perform!
