Well done to all the winners in last weeks Captain's Prize and to our Captain Dave Smyth who had a busy weekend in addition to seeing home the winner by making it up to Croke Park on Sunday to watch his beloved Tipperary win the Hurling final. 

They often refer to Tipp as "Gods country" and if so then we definitely had some divine inspiration as the clouds parted and play began at 1pm and remained dry all afternoon on Saturday. 

Well done also to David Behan and his staff who worked tirelessly in both preparation prior and in salvaging any chance we had of getting play on Saturday.


 

I was delighted to see that Rory McIlroy recently team up with Phil Kenyon of Swash putting to assist him with what was the weakest part of his game and the adjustments paid dividend with immediate effect as we all saw last weekend. As we all know Rory has struggled with this part of his game from time to time but it goes to show the value of accurate information. 

I have spent time in the past with Phil and Harold Swash and he could not be in better hands. Unsurprisingly a few adjustments to his putting complimented his already brilliant long game and it goes to show that even though we feel a long way from our best performances at times, we never are!A slight adjustment here or there makes all the difference! 

Small changes, big steps.....


 

This week I had the pleasure of playing in the PGA Tankard in Carlow with PGA Tankard winners Sarah Crowe and David Osborne. We had a very respectable 45 points in a 1 from 3 to score format. 

On Tuesday I joined the Lady Captain, Mary Burns and Paddy Kavanagh in Dundrum House for the 3ts where again we all played nicely but it wasnt quite enough to qualify. We were very optimistic after 9 holes with 44points and a putting display by the Lady Captain that Rory McIlroy would have been proud of! It was two really enjoyable days and my thanks to to all.
