Naas Golf Club PGA Golf Professional
It's that time of year when thoughts are turning to winter golf, 9 hole competitions and placing everywhere!
Although we all love playing golf in the summer when the ground is hard and fast the winter time offers you an opportunity to work on your game, check out your equipment and possibly make a well over due investment in your game.
One thing I would urge you to do in the event that you are considering a change of equipment, is to go shopping armed with the correct information!
With so much technology available it is important that you match your equipment to the way that you play! Golfers are remarkably consistent when you look at the relevant numbers and each golfer has effectively got a swing "DNA".
I appreciate the humorous reaction to that statement but it really is something to consider. With TrackMan we are able to take what is essentially an x-ray of the way you strike the ball and deliver the club, from here I can select equipment that would be most suitable and more importantly eliminate what you want to avoid.
A TrackMan fitting takes 45-90 minutes depending on how many clubs we are looking at and will give you invaluable information not just for buying equipment but also the information will help you to understand your own individual game.
A TrackMan session such as this costs €45 or €90 depending on the length of the session, don't forget you can use your pro shop credit!

Great for the game
At a time when the game of golf is desperate for a wider audience, recent events will have gone a long way to helping its cause. From Justin Rose's Olympic gold to America's dominance in the Ryder Cup to last week's British Masters, things are certainly on the right track.
The British Masters was supported by Sky Sports and as such Sky were giving away thousands of free tickets prior to the event, ensuring that The Grove was full to capacity throughout. Once again the event was coupled with some innovative ideas designed to bring a fun factor to the week; and they nailed it!
Tuesday night saw the Hero Challenge take place under the floodlights with over 2,000 spectators transfixed by the one-hole knockout contest. The 18th hole was converted into a 156-yard par-3 for both professionals and celebrities to battle it out until there was one man standing. This was followed by the ISPS Handa Pressure Putt Challenge on Wednesday. Professionals teamed up with a celebrity and went head-to-head in knockout fashion as each player attempted to hole putts of increasing difficulty.
Not to take away from the main 72-hole competition from Thursday to Sunday, which was superbly won by Alex Noren, these new concepts were a huge success and will certainly bring some much-needed new faces to the game.
Perfect for the cooler weather
Temperatures have certainly dipped in recent weeks so it’s time you thought about layering up. Glenmuir’s luxury lambswool sweaters are ideal for the cooler weather and come in a classic look. For those of you who love to wear the club’s badge with pride, Glenmuir’s crested range is a fantastic option too.
