Jack Hume shot 69 66 in the last two rounds of the Scottish Amateur at Panmure last weekend to finish tied 2nd. This week he plays in the St. Andrews trophy at the great St.Andrews links and then on to The Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush.
Conor O Rourke and Liam Ashby both successfully qualified for the last two rounds at the East of Ireland at Baltray.
Another great weekend for our teams with the Barton Cup and South Leinster teams marching on to the next round of their respective competitions. Onwards and upwards!!!
Putting is a such an important part of the game as we all know. Matches are won and lost and tournaments decided by what often happens on the putting green. It goes without saying that we do not spend enough time practising this part of the game and I often wonder why as putting is such a challenge that getting better should provide its own motivation.
I guess the thrill of hitting a ball long and straight will always play to our egos but if you really want to score better, and quickly, then putting better is the place to start. Just like driver technology, putters have a huge amount of technology behind what makes the right putter for your game. Insert versus single block, face balanced versus toe or heel weighted, long or short, fat grip or thin grip and why should you use these different combinations.
Well, they are all there for a reason and next Tuesday evening between 6-8pm I will be hosting a demonstration putting evening where I will have dozens of putters of all different shapes and sizes to fit you with as well as make some suggestions as to what will suit you best. There is no sign up and the evening and is FREE of charge all you have to do is turn up with your current putter and let me see if I can improve your putting through the fitting process and some helpful advise!
