Competition news

A big congratulations to Paula Murray who competed recently in the Portuguese Ladies Seniors Championship on the old course at and Victoria Course at Vilamoura. Paula has worked with both Brian and I recently on her long game and putting and was delighted to get off to such a fast start this season.

Paula
was runner up in division two 6-12 handicaps and was part of the Irish Team that finished runners up in the nations cup.

Well done Paula!!

Upcoming events

Last weeks PING fitting night went well and was fully booked. The new Ladies range was very popular along with the new i200 men's range.

Our next fitting night is our first Mizuno fitting night which is already fully booked and I know many golfers have commented on the new Mizuno driver which we also now have available in demo and for fittings.

Here are some more events coming up in March and please feel free to get in touch if you would like to book or find out more information.

Pros news

Are golfers fore-going safety?

It's time for a rant. From our very first adventures onto a golf course we're encouraged, no demanded, to scream 'fore' if our ball is going off line. We've all had to do it, both for ourselves and playing partners, when we see a miss-hit flying towards another golfer on the course who we're frantically hoping would just move out of the way.

So why is it that when the tour pros skew one left or right, where hundreds of spectators are lined up along the edge of the rough, do they not see the importance of shouting 'fore'? Take Pat Perez for example. On Sunday he saw a stray tee shot clatter into the head of a spectator on the 12th, before firing another loose drive into the leg of another spectator on the 15th. And guess what - no shout of 'fore' on either occasion.

Perez isn't in the minority either, it happens far too often. Shane Lowry's tweet (seen above) hits the nail on the head. Let's hope more players follow his mindset.

GolfSixes

Aiming for a younger demographic

The European Tour have introduced some innovative ideas for the season ahead. The World Super 6 combined 54 holes of stroke play with a final-day knockout, whilst GolfSixes, which takes place later in the year, sees two-man teams battle it out over six holes in a group stage, before progressing to a final-day knockout.

Will this be good for the game? Have your say here
