Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.

Captains' Drive In
Despite the weather conditions last weekend our proud Captains' enjoyed a fantastic day for the drive in on Saturday. The coaching studio came in helpful for photographs before they departed for the first tee to drive off. It is a reflection of the strength of our club that so many members turned out on a day when the course was unavoidably closed and the thoughts of even playing was far from everyone's mind.
Despite this the craic was mighty and the great food and a few drinks flowed.
It was a tough week for David and his crew and I know every effort was made to be open but the rainfall was just too heavy this week. Hopefully better weather will follow this week.
Best of luck to our Captain Kevin, Lady Captain Catherine and Junior Captain Samuel for 2017!!
Short Game Clinic
Would you like to master the pitch shot, land shots softly on to greens and develop a technique that makes these shots easy?
On Saturday, 25 March I am hosting a short game clinic from 10am-1pm. The class will focus on chipping, pitching and bunker play. With our new holes in mind I will be concentrating on higher, softer pitch shots, using bounce and developing spin, a shot that will be essential to master the elevated greens and high lip bunkers that we will be playing. The skills here will be invaluable on any course and will give you more control over how close you are able to get your shots to the hole.
The cost is €125 (€95 for members) and includes lunch and practise plans which will be emailed to you after the session.
There are only 4 places available!

New Arrival
Skechers are a new brand that make their debut to our pro shop this season. Waterproof & extremely comfortable, I have been really impressed with the wide fittings and soft soles that make this shoe a pleasure to walk around in for 18 holes.
We have two styles in men's and one in ladies (sorry ladies they only make one waterproof shoe) and a casual ladies slip on shoe in stock.
I would highly recommend if you are looking to purchase a new pair of shoes or you would like something really comfortable for the summer, to try on a pair of these shoes which I think will be a big hit this summer.
Please feel free to try on a pair next time you are in the shop.
Bag Trade In
With the golfing season now upon us, there's no better time to treat yourself to a new golf bag as we're offering €20 OFF selected bags when you trade in your old one - no matter its condition.
Broken zips?
Bent stands?
Tattered upholstery?
If any of these are true of your bag, then take to the course in 2017 with a new style from Motocaddy.
Next time you're around be sure to pop into the shop and explore our full range in this promotion.
