The Masters

Last week's US Masters was as ever thrilling as we watched Sergio Garcia finally break through to win his first Major. In the past Sergio could be guilty of allowing his emotions to get the better of him but this time despite momentum and form going against him over the first 12 holes he maintained a calm demenour and when he got his break on the 13th hole he was both emotionally and physically ready to rise to the challenge.

The outcome can often hinge on one decision or one shot and Sergio waited until his opportunity came and boy did he take it with both hands.

Great to watch and more to come from El Ninio!

Club news

The Naas flag is once again flying high early inthe season with our Mixed team winning last weekend following on from our Super Senior and Barton Cup wins recently. Jonathan Yates finished 5th in the University Championships at St Andrews and as we speak Jamie Butler is going well in the Munster u16s. Paula Murray had another great overseas performance this time in the Italian Seniors and sent me this email...

"Hi Gavin,

I played in the International Italian Seniors competition in Circolo di Golf Roma with a field of 92. a tight old fashioned tree lined course which meant accuracy off the tee was vital as was entry into well protected greens. Par 71 shot 88 gross day one finishing treble bogey double bogey. and then had a great round shooting 79 gross which meant that I won the overall Nett. It also moved me to 9th overall in general Gross Classification.. thanks to yourself and Brian for the tuition and encouragement over the winter months"

Well done Paula!!
