Best of Luck to our Lady Captain Maire and all the ladies competing for this years Lady Captains Prize. The course is in great condition and all we need is the golf gods to provide some good weather. I am sure the scoring will be good and it will be a close, well fought contest. Good luck to you all.
Well done to our Ladies Finn Trophy team who overcame a very good Powerscourt team last week on the last hole with an outstanding birdie by Elenor O Dwyer. They are now in the semi final. The Ladies Junior and Minor Teams are out this Sunday, again at quarter final stage so we wish them all our best in what has already been a great year for our teams competing at interclub level. The last hole has been kind to us over the past week... lets hope that continues!
Hard luck to the Ladies Boyne and Senior Foursomes teams who were beaten last week but had a great run and I am sure will build on their improvements next season with much learned and potential to build on.
Over the next week our Barton Shield Team and Mixed teams are in action so we wish them all the very best of luck.
This week our own Jack Hume is representing Ireland at the European Team championships in Finland. I know the team are keen to improve on a poor performance last year but with everyone showing good form and boosted by the performance of Paul Dunne in qualifying for the Open Championship they have all they need to produce a better showing.
You may have noticed many of our juniors around, its holiday time of year and I am pleased to say that our numbers are growing on strength every year with over 60 in attendance last Monday. There are some very promising players amongst them and I am sure we will hear of some new names appearing as the summer continues. Next week is the Kildare Boys which we are the host venue. The field for this competition is getting stronger every year and if you can get out to see some the players in action I think you will be impressed.
Congratulations to Paul Conway who won the PGA Tankard last weekend beating Michael Conroy by 1 point in to second place. There was a great turnout with 208 players competing. The weather and the course were fantastic and my thanks to David Behan. Despite popular belief the more difficult pins were not at my request however David knows I prefer to see some tough pins so he obviously took that in to account! Joking aside, I would like to thank you all for your continued support and my thanks for such a great turnout.
