A big well done to Margeret Kelleher and her Finn Trophy team who won all 5 of their first leg matches against Coolattin last Saturday. The return match is in Coolattin on bank holiday Monday and we wish them well.
This weekend our Barton Shield team is out again in the Leinster Quarter finals at Laytown. The teams are Jack Hume and Maurice Kelly, Conor O Rourke and Warren Kelly. We wish them well.
As I write this Conor O Rourke is playing in the last 16 of the South Of Ireland at Lahinch. Fingers crossed we have good news for you next week! Conor represented Leinster last week at the men's interprovincials at the Island golf club. He beat the very inform Cormac Sharvin in his singles match against Ulster....a major scalp. He won 3/5 matches which was very respectable in his first senior representation.
Best of luck to Eoin O Hehir and Spencer Adamson who are playing in the Munster Boys this week. These two have been wearing out the putting green of late and I'm sure they will build on what has been a positive season for them.
Congratulations to Tony Waters who won our President Mr Joe Keoghs prize on Sunday. There was a massive field taking part over Saturday and Sunday, conditions were tough but Tony came through with a fine 66 nett. Tony works had at his game and plays amongst a very competitive group of gentlemen every Saturday and they certainly brought the best out of him this time, well done!
Well done to our President Joe who was there to greet everyone off the first tee. A long couple of days but I'm sure he enjoyed every minute.
Open week is next week, the sheets are busy and we just need some luck now from the weather. I'm delighted to say that I will be sponsoring the singles competition on Sunday 3rd August and also the prize for the first hole in one. I hope you all have a fantastic week and stay around for the craic and banter that is always a part of our festival of golf. I look forward to seeing you at the club and hopefully I'll even get to present you with a prize!
