My thanks to our Lady Captain Maire, Annette McWilliams and Val Goodwin for a great day last Thursday at St Margerets in the PGA/3ts event.
The weather was fantastic and unfortunately better than our score but we enjoyed the day and the fun. It is a wonderful charity and it was great to see so many clubs playing and supporting what is a very worthwhile cause.
I would like to wish Caroline Cullen, most of you will know her as Caroline from the office, the very best of luck in her new job. Caroline joined Naas at the same time as I did and she has been fantastic to work with, a real lady and we will miss her.
Well done to Ray Howley who won last weeks Super Singles, it was a great score of 67 nett, well done to Jack Hume who finished 3rd in the Galway scratch cup and to Hilary Morrissey who won last weeks ladies competition.
The excitement for the 2014 Ryder Cup continues to build. Who's your money on? It remains to be seen whether the US team will miss the injured Tiger Woods and whether a European team containing the world's best player in Rory McIlroy will prove too strong on home soil. Europe will start as favourites, but let's hope it's a competitive affair because there are fewer more exciting and enthralling moments in sport than a Ryder Cup that goes the distance.
Our hope is that whatever the result, more people feel inspired to take us this great game. We look forward to seeing you around the club and hearing your thoughts and predictions for this year's contest.
