The season is winding down a little but it is being greatly helped by the fantastic weather and long may it continue! This week is Ryder Cup week and we all wish Paul and his team the very best of luck. It will be exciting for sure!!
By the time you read this, fingers crossedTeam Europe may already be well on their way to winning the Ryder Cup… again! Who knows, maybe the Americans will claim the trophy for the first time since Valhalla in 2008.
Pressure can yeild positive results
The standard of play will be electrifying. It often amazes me just how well we can play when under pressure and when the mind is focused, at any level. What comes in front of the other I sometimes wonder!
Does pressure bring out our biggest performances? I think it does to a certain extent.
Do you enjoy pressure? Most of you will probably say NO!! But sometimes, putting yourself under pressure to perform can make you realise just what you are actually capable of. Next time you are practising try to play a few holes in your mind, replay the holes you find most difficult on the course and focus on your routines. Learn to visualise the shot you WANT to play, it is very powerful once you begin to instruct your mind what you want it to do!
As the Jack Nicklaus once said, "I go to the movies on EVERY shot, even in PRACTISE"
The short game will win the cup
If you're watching and you can separate yourself from the theatre, I recommend trying to learn a thing or two from the pros. One of the things that strikes us during Ryder Cup week is how deadly accurate they are from 120 yards and in. Given the freedom to attack the pins, it can turn into a real birdie fest.
When you're sat there thinking 'How do they do it?' bear us in mind as we can help you make more birdies with your wedges. You might not ever make the Ryder Cup team but we can guarantee we'll make you a better player in the short-game area, so you win more events at the club. Click here to request a short game lesson.
