Fighting Hard What a busy month July is between our teams still fighting hard at the later stages of their respective competitions and all the golf we have to look forward to on TV! Doing Itself Proud Last week Irish golf did itself proud and it was another masterstroke by our club friend Paul McGinley, this year’s host of the Irish Open at Lahinch. The course and the atmosphere around the tournament were fantastic, you really had to be there to feel the pride Lahinch showed in hosting the event. Our own Conor O'Rourke represented us and although he did not make the weekend the quality of his golf was at least equal to that around him and now with some confidence and momentum I know he is looking forward to the second half of his season. Our own Open week is only around the corner, details and timesheets will be available shortly and as always a busy week is expected in what is one of the most popular weeks on our events calendar.
For those of you travelling to Portrush next week enjoy the week! It promises to be a fantastic week on a great course and no doubt will provide an exciting tournament. Maybe another Irish winner? Having spoken briefly to Padraig Harrington last week your money should be on him, but I guess if he doesnt believe it then no one else will so we will see. His performance last week suggests his game is good and if he gets the breaks then you never know. For me I am going with Brooks Koepka, his caddie Ricky Elliot and I played together on the Irish boy’s team and is from Portrush so he is my bet and Harrington my each way. Can’t wait! |
