Golf is creeping back and I know many of you will be chomping at the bit to get back out on the fairways if you have not done already. Whilst the club has been quiet we expect a big increase once phase two of our re-opening comes on the 8th June. I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and warm Dun Laoghaire welcome and like you we are really looking forward to busy days and seeing everyone again. Adam Whiston will be a name known to many of you, Adam sadly passed away recently and while reading an article on him last week I realised that he started his golf at Dun Laoghaire where his father Adam Whiston Snr was the Professional. Adam retired in 2007 from Royal Tara GC but remembered fondly his days at Dun Laoghaire. "I loved Dun Laoghaire and experienced great generosity from the members over the years. I suppose I must have had nine years with my father, including five years serving my time, before I qualified as a professional and took up a job at Foxrock in 1969". RIP Alan Whiston. You may have noticed on social media some of our updates on what we have in stock for the coming season. There is a nice splash of colour across ladies and men's clothing and the club shield has gone down very well on non-team wear. Here are a few images we took this week. |
