Food for thought

I think we were all a little gobsmacked last weekend after watching Bryson Dechambeau dismantle Winged Foot and the field at the US Open. It appears no matter what they do to curtail the distance gains the players are able to work out away around every problem. We should not be surprised as it is the nature of professional sport to stretch the boundaries to the limits whether that is equipment, physicality or indeed the rules they play under.

I admire what he did last week not just his impressive length off the tee but how he tactically moved around the course each day, how well he putted and how accepting he was when out of position, making good decisions and getting back on track, not allowing the course to beat him.

He was 7th in driving distance last week which may surprise some but at the end of the day he won on the greens, as always, it is where most tournaments are decided. He played to his strengths and worked out how to use that strength on that golf course... food for thought and good advice for any golfer!
