You are worth it

I was asked recently "am I good enough to be fitted for clubs" and I thought the question was worth discussing with you this week as I appreciate many golfers probably ask the same question.

The short answer is, YES!

It goes without question that the major brands are focusing their research and development on making the game easier for the average golfer, after all that is their market. Drivers that go further, irons that launch higher, hybrids that eliminate the challenges that come with longer more straight faced irons, putters that are weighted to suit your stroke, software that allows us to analyse what equipment will tie in with your game, the list goes on and on.

As we have seen, the Professionals have also taken advantage of all these developments, causing the games rule makers to look at what might be best for the game going forward. Putting technological advantages into the hands of highly skilled players has had an effect that will be debated. That conversation is for another day but you can be confident that the process of being fitted for your equipment is designed around you and making the game easier for the majority of golfers to play.

One other aspect that is worth considering is the ball. If your equipment is more than a few years old, it was engineered and tested with golf balls that do not exist today, there is no doubt that is a factor if you have noticed a loss of distance over the past few years. Of course there are always other factors in that discussion but we cannot rule out the influence of the head and golf ball.

Having your equipment assessed is a great way to find out if it is giving you the best results. From there, your own clubs can be adjusted or you will have options around what to do next.

Having the right information is key to making the right decision.
