I had some correspondence recently with a member asking about the best approach to gaining distance and what we should, or should not be taking from Bryson's recent approach to strength and conditioning with a view to gaining more distance. It is always an interesting debate and there is no doubt a massive entertainment factor in following the best players and what they work on but it is important to remember that their approach is always relative to their ability, physical conditioning and the level of time and desire they have to put into their games. This should also be true for you! If you are starting for example from where you play once per week, practise for 30 minutes and take a walk 2-3 times per week then adding 2-3 small but effective drills might be a good idea to start off with rather than embarking on a longer program that you will find challenging to complete each week and possibly lose interest in. It is worth thinking about what time each week you can realistically give to a "new" approach to your golf fitness or desire to gain more distance. Hitting the ball further means moving faster and there are many things you can do outside of golf technique that will improve your ability to gain distance or improve your potential at least. It can be as simple, to start off with, as walking faster between shots! If you would like to get in touch with a view to getting some ideas that may help your golf fitness or for some ideas to improve your distance please feel free to click here and I would be delighted to make some suggestions. Don't forget we are doing lessons online through the V1 app which is free for you to download and send me video through. Video lessons are charged at a half-hour rate.
