Well done to our ladies Junior cup team that beat Craddockstown last Monday! Craddockstown are the previous winners of this event and it was a great scalp by our ladies team, which is getting stronger every year. We wish them well in the coming rounds
Congratulations also to our junior girls who won the Leinster Skills challenge at the Heritage last Sunday and also to our boys team who finished 3rd. There is lots of rising talent around the club and I'm sure plenty more success will come over the summer. Many thanks to our junior committee and mums and dads that travelled!
Best of luck to our Irish Mixed Foursomes team on Sunday, to Jack Hume who competes at the Lytham trophy and to Conor O Rourke and Jonathan Yates who are competing in the Cork Scratch Cup. Good luck also to all our teams as they prepare for the next round of their respective competitions, it's great to see so many of you out practising and getting ready for some competitive golf.
They say that fresh grips can be worth 2 shots a round and although I think that statement is understated I am often amazed at the amount of golfers I teach who let their grips get in to such bad condition. As the grip wears your grip pressure, unknowingly, increases and tension through the hands is not good for your technique, rhythm or your shots!
We always have special offers on grips and I would recommend that before the season goes any further that you assess the quality of your grips both for size and texture and if you do nothing else to help your game this season make sure your grips are in good order. It's a bit like driving on bald tyres that don't suit the size of the car you are driving..... A recipe for disaster!
At our grip station you will notice the size chart and there is plenty of choice both in price and various styles. Please feel free to ask next time you are in the shop and don't neglect this important area! It could be the most pain free way to better golf!
