Greetings from Gavin Lunny
Naas Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Hello golfers,
What a fantastic night we had on Saturday to celebrate the successes of Jack Hume, it must be said that the club had many successes this year and we have lots to build on in the coming years but last Saturday was all about Jack and his Walker Cup victory. Well done and thanks to "young Gus" who acted as MC and did a fantastic job of setting the mood and conducting an excellent Q&A session.

Jack delivered plenty of good advise and insight to his success as well as a few laughs. I know he really enjoyed the night and is greatly appreciative of all the support he has received from the club. Jack made a lovely presentation of his Walker Cup bag, shirt and hat and I'm sure will take pride of place somewhere in the club for all of us to see.

Thanks also to Paddy Kavanagh and everyone involved in putting the night together. One to remember and hopefully one day soon another guy or gal will be up there relaying their exploits on the big stage, representing Naas Golf Club!

This week he tees up in Mt Wolsey in a challenge tour event, tickets are available by contacting the club.

Coaching news

Do you want to strike it like they do on tour?

Have you ever wondered how the tour players hit their irons so far? Well, it is not all about strength, but understanding what makes a ball go faster. Ball speed... not club head speed!

On Wednesday, 14 October, I will be hosting a 'Learn to crunch your irons' clinic at the range from 6-7pm. This will cost 30 euros and includes golf balls and tuition. You will not only hit your irons longer, but also straighter.

There are only four places remaining on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to attend, please contact me by calling/texting 0868326676 or clicking here to book your place

Shop news

The golf ball we use is an important piece of equipment to consider. We use it on every shot we hit! Distance versus short game, soft or hard feel, golf balls differ greatly and are all designed for different purposes.

On Monday, 19 October between 6-7pm I will be at the range to conduct a complimentary ball fitting session where you can find out what ball best fits your game based on your ball speed and preference for feel. There are only 4 places, each session takes 15 minutes. This is a complimentary service and each participant will receive a free sleeve of their recommended ball.

Please click here or call/ text me on 0868326676 if you would like to attend.

I hope you enjoyed the reading the articles, and that you have a great weekend.
