What we've been waiting for

Well, the good news we all were waiting for arrived last week when we were finally told that golf was to return on Monday 26th of April! We can debate the timelines but at least we have a date in the diary and I know you, like me, cannot wait to get out on the course again, start working on your game and enjoy the pleasure of hitting a well-struck shot!

To whet our appetites we have The Masters to look forward to. It hardly seems like yesterday that Dustin Johnston was marching to victory in the most unusual of settings, Augusta in November, but he was a worthy winner and the question is will the harder, firmer conditions of April make a difference, well we will find out very soon.

This is a big week also for Rory McIlroy, no form, new coach, as always lots of expectation and who would be surprised if he surprised us all on a course that he appears made to play on. I can't wait!

The green of Augusta, the Azaleas, those greens and all the excitement that goes with The Masters, it's time for golf and we have certainly missed it! Our days on the course are only around the corner!

Last week was a great week for Irish golf with our two lady golfers on the LPGA Tour, Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow having strong finishes at the first Ladies Major of the year. Olivia Mehaffey was also in contention at Augusta at the Ladies Augusta Amateur and I'm sure we will hear a lot more about these three players over the coming years. Ireland continues to punch well above our weight in golf and it is great to watch.

Until next week, enjoy The Masters, stay safe and get swinging, we are almost there!
